Buckling Matters II plane frame buckling analysis
This paper extends an earlier paper on buckling to the analysis of plane frames to find the critical buckling of individual members within a 2-dimensional frame. This includes the stiffness matrix analysis of a double portal frame typical of station pedestrian overbridges. Comparison of results is provided with commercially available software. The plane frame and buckling analysis example is also available as a spreadsheet, ‘Plane Frame Buckling Example’ – refer to the Spreadsheet tab\General Structural.
